For when you’re serious about landing a Chief of Staff role, but you don’t know what you don’t know.
There’s no set curriculum or training path for Chiefs of Staff. Most of us arrive at the role with depth and breadth in some areas, but less exposure and confidence in others.
It’s hard to see those gaps - especially when Chief of Staff job descriptions are notoriously variable and inconsistent. And the cost of figuring out your gaps the hard way is high: applications that don’t pan out, interviews you know you could have done better in, wasted time, and (worst of all) a knock to your confidence.
Your personalised readiness report, built from hundreds of Chief of Staff data points
This tool isn’t something just to read through; you rate yourself against the key competencies, answer context and experience questions, and the output is tailored accordingly.
It covers nine core Chief of Staff competencies, which are grouped into the Chiefly 3i framework: Intellectual, interpersonal, intrinsic. Each is taken from my direct experience as a Chief of Staff, my research, and my coaching and mentoring experience.
There’s no shortage of information on the Chief of Staff role out there. This tool isn’t intended to simply provide more of it with a slightly different flavour - rather, it helps you figure out what you need and how you can build your competence and confidence as an aspiring Chief of Staff.
You’ll come away knowing (and seeing):
Where your strengths are across the spectrum of Chief of Staff competencies
Where you need to get more reps or build your skills, specifically with a Chief of Staff angle
Which resources and actions will help you close the gaps
You get instant access and unlimited usage; it’s a tool you can (and should) use more than once, so that you can see visual proof as your experience grows. No download required.

The alternative approach is much more resource-heavy
Courses are great, but expensive - they usually cost hundreds at least. Before investing in one, it’s worth knowing whether you actually need it - and what else you might need to explore
Coaching sessions just to find out this kind of information are one-offs, and are considerably more expensive. Going into coaching with your report already done is much better value for money.
Applying for roles that aren’t a good fit - or accepting a role without the confidence that you’ll be able to do well in it - is costly too
At £150, this report gives you a clear and instant answer to a question people spend good time trying to work out: where should I focus to improve my chances?

When you click Get started, you’ll see a popup asking for your email address. Payment is requested on the next screen after that.
Your data stays on your device - this is a completely standalone tool that runs entirely in your browser window.
Nothing you enter is transmitted to any server, stored in any database, or shared with any third party - including Chiefly.
How it works
Your answers are saved to your browser's local storage only. This means your progress is preserved if you close the tab or lose connection, but the data never leaves your device. When you clear your browser data or use the "clear saved data" button in the tool, everything is gone permanently.
There is no account, no login, and no email required to use the tool. The results screen is generated from your answers in real time, on your device.
The tool makes no external requests. Fonts are self-hosted within the file. There are no analytics trackers, no cookies, and no third-party scripts.
The tool was independently reviewed as part of a security audit prior to launch. No personal data is stored or transmitted at any point.

-

-
Yes please! As your journey towards Chief of Staff progresses, your answers will change. If you take it again further down the line, you’ll get to see how you’re developing. You can also check back any time to see the recommended resources for each topic.
-
The tool has a slight bent towards corporate, startup and scaleup. it may be less directly applicable to public sector or charity contexts, although the competencies transfer fairly comprehensively. The AI prompts included make it easy for you to tailor the recommendations even more closely to what you need.
-
You have lots of options - you can start working through the report and use it as your own self-paced development plan, or you can explore more structured paths like group coaching (a Chiefly version coming soon) or 1:1 coaching. If appropriate, you can also share your results with your sponsors and devise a development plan with them.

Refunds are not offered, since the tool is accessible immediately (and permanently) on purchase. If you have any questions before purchase, please get in touch at tools@chieflycos.com. Thank you for understanding.

A final note: this tool has been built by a former Chief of Staff who has spent years studying and absorbing (and thinking carefully) about what the Chief of Staff role really entails. It’s a ground-up tool, built around the Chiefly 3i framework, and designed to help you accelerate towards a Chief of Staff role.
You certainly don’t need to be a master of every single one of the competencies, but knowing that you’ve got them broadly covered will give you valuable confidence in targeting and getting the right Chief of Staff role for you.
